I’m late to the party, but I’ve decided to participate in the Beat the Backlist challenge this year – with a little twist of my own.
Beat the Backlist is hosted by novelknight and the main challenge page is here. The idea is to knock off titles that have been sitting on your TBR for a while, that keep getting passed over in favour of new releases. The books should have been released prior to 2017. I’ve put together a list of the backlist books I currently have on my TBR, and I hope to knock off at least half of them this year.
My twist on this is that I plan to devote Thursdays to backlist or “throwback” books. A weekly feature, I suppose. Along with sharing my progress on the Beat the Backlist challenge, I’ll share book recommendations, lists and reviews that are not based on recent releases.
I’ll be the first to admit that I buy way too many books – but at this point I’m usually not too caught up in what’s the newest, shiniest, most recent release. But I could see that changing as I blog more often – it’s pretty easy to get caught up in the new releases and what everyone else is reading. My goal is to keep reading what I want, when I want, regardless of the release date.
So to get started today, here’s my current TBR list for the Beat the Backlist challenge! (I’ll add more as I go)
Apparently the reason many of these are still on my TBR is because they are so long I keep putting them off! Wish me luck with that…
Please visit again next Thursday!
